Oldest Venerated Image of St. Joseph in Philippines Granted Coronation

Official announcement from The National Shrine of St. Joseph’s Facebook page:

The whole praying community of the National Shrine of Saint Joseph gladly informs everyone that in expression of our sincere devotion and love, the Archdiocese of Cebu has approved the request of the lay faithful of Mandaue, that the Oldest Venerated Image of Saint Joseph in the Philippines (c.1600) be granted and given an Episcopal Coronation – as a manifestation and thanksgiving for all the wonders that our Spiritual Father, the Patrocinio de San Jose de Mandaue has interceeded for us throughout the years.

This solemn occasion will take place on the Sunday, 8th of August within the Eucharistic Celebration at 4:00PM in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Parish as a National Shrine by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines.

Less than a month from now, this celebration shall vitalize our Act of Filial Adoption of Saint Joseph as Father of My Heart grace-filled of such within this Year of Saint Joseph and the 500th Year of Christianity in the Philippines.

Details and other updates for the preparations will be posted soon.
